President Orange Man is threatening other countries with tariffs to get them to the negotiating table. He doesn't want tariffs - he wants to force them to make a deal. This is a kind of strongarm business tactic used by asshole businessmen to get what they want, and Donald Trump isn't just a fan of it - he wrote the book on it. The president of Mexico figured it out and negotiated a border security deal. Canada, for some reason, decided that now is the time to act patriotic, even though they've spent the past decade or more flooding the country with Indians and killing themselves. Prime Minister Trudeau is also using it as an excuse to stay in power, even though he was recently forced to resign.
